I missed theatrical screenings of Boy Kills World and having seen it, I regret it. I think I would have loved to be in the audience for screenings of this film because this one is bound to be a cult classic!
Filled with lots of humor, great action beats and a surprisingly emotional kick, Boy Kills World is a frenetic fever dream of a film. And incredibly fun!
Bill Skarsgard is Boy, a deaf mute who has grown up in a Dystopian world where he is trained by Shaman (Yayan Ruhian) to seek out revenge against the ruling family, the Van Der Koys, who killed Boy’s family.
With brutal training, Boy is honed to a perfect weapon, but finds himself haunted and occasionally annoyed by visions of his little sister, Mina (Quinn Copeland). He’s also forgotten the sound of his own voice, so he incorporated the voice of his favorite video game, provided by H. Jon Benjamin, which makes for some great laughs.
The film rockets along and includes a fun cast that includes Michelle Dockery, Jessica Rothe, Sharlto Copley, and Famke Janssen.

The action beats are well-crafted, the humor works perfectly and it leans into the absurd and the fun, while working its way into your heart with its emotional arc. Skarsgard is fantastic, and easily carries the film, and pairing him up with little Copeland provides some wonderful joy.
It’s quick-paced, laugh-filled, and so worth your time. This one is going to be talked about, raved about, and sooner or later, you’ll see it, and wonder what took you so long to discover it. I couldn’t believe how fun this was.
No sooner were the end credits rolling than I wanted to start it all over again, and share it with everyone I knew.
The production design is solid, the camera-work is kinetic, and the filmmakers make sure that their budget is all on the screen, and it is damned entertaining. It’s smart, playful, absurd, engaging, and kicks all manner of ass.
Rothe’s June27 is so cool, and her helmet is brilliant. There’s nothing about this film that I didn’t enjoy, it was all just so much fun. This is a film you can put on, and just soak in. It’s there to be savored and enjoyed, and in all honesty, it’s a lot more fun than some of the bigger budget stuff the film industry is cranking out.
This one is to be sought out, shared and enjoyed!
