Robin introduces a new character in his White Knight books, and it sounds very much like Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks), who by the way, is still with Dr. Ethan (Jay Ali) on his Doctors Without Borders assignment. A misstep there causes Higgins to get some help from her old employers at MI6.
Meanwhile, back on the island, Magnum (Jay Hernandez) has a new relationship of his own with Detective Kaleo (Chantal Thuy) and is back to working solo in Island Vibes, the season four opener. Written by Gene Hong and one of the showrunners, Eric Guggenheim, the season got underway on 1 October, 2021.
Thomas Magnum’s case involves a single mother who is being hunted by a pair of killers following her involvement in working at a high-stakes illegal card game.
Suzy (Betsy Phillips) is leaving the island to join an art collective for six months, which allows Rick (Zachary Knighton) and her to finally consummate their relationship as they aren’t working together anymore.
Higgins lets Magnum know she’s coming home, one of the caveats that her new MI6 handler, Eve (Marsha Thomason) has ordered her to do. Apparently, MI6 has something they want her to do in Hawaii.
So season four is underway, there are some changes to the cast with Suzy’s departure, a new romance for Thomas, now to be complicated by the return of Juliet and a possible season arc involving Higgins’ working for MI6 (again) and keeping it secret from Magnum.
Could be fun!

The Harder They Fall first aired on 8 October, 2021 and was written by David Wolkove.
Shammy (Christopher Thornton) and T.C. (Stephen Hill) find themselves when a pair of drug runners posing as tourists skyjack their Island Hoppers flight. The pair are going to be pushed to their limits before the end of the episode.
Higgins is back, struggling with some jetlag but signs up to help Magnum out on a case involving the death of a construction worker. Alani (Shinelle Azoroh) doesn’t believe her husband would make the careless mistake that led to his death, and there is no video footage as the cameras were conveniently down. As the pair investigate, they learn he had a record, and had been linked with a murder, but maybe that means someone really wanted to get him out of the way.
Once she’s back on the estate, Higgins is suspicious about Magnum’s good mood and behaviour. She hasn’t quite figured out that he’s seeing someone, but she’s not far from doing it.
Meanwhile, Rick is trying to keep his drinks menu at La Mariana fresh after Suzy’s departure and Kumu (Amy Hill) lends a hand.
Oh! and hey, there’s John Kapelos as a guest star!
Season four continues next week as I delve further into Magnum P.I. – The Complete Series on DVD available now from Paramount Canada. Aloha!
