The convention season got underway for Sue and I today with the Toronto Comicon, later today, we’ll be chatting with some of the celebrity guests that have been invited to this event in our usual informal way, and we’ll see how many of them we can make laugh.
For now, we thought we’d share some of the things we saw…
There were Groots everywhere, and these ones actually danced.
There were so many cool things…
One of the things I most love are the odd combinations, of genres and iconic imagery, made into new, bur always recognizable forms… say something like this Buddha Vader.
There are also high quality reproductions, models and sculptures, like these two creations from Sculputre Supply Canada. They had this awesome Iron Man helmet…
And this wicked reproduction of that ugly muther… Predator…
You can check out their site here.
We also got to catch up with our friend Tim Doiron who was on site to promote his and April Mullen’s new action thriller 88 starring Katharine Isabelle (sigh), Christopher Lloyd and Michael Ironside.
It has an upcoming Canadian release, but our American neighbors can check it out now on Netflix. Make sure you swing by their booth for posters, view the trailer and see some props from the film! Check out their site here.
And check out Boulder, Colorado’s Geekify here, as they have some fantastic covers for ipads, kindles, any of your geek needs… Who wouldn’t want a kindle cover that looked like this?
And for us local folks with a sweet tooth, have a look at Cakes Cove here. They specialize in geeky or traditional cakes… I’d love to sink my teeth into this Millennium Falcon.
Of course, one of the big draws of the weekend will be the celebrity guests, already showing up for a few quick hours Friday evening before diving in today! Wait until you see who we chat with!
And, there were Pop! Funko figures everywhere, and I’ll openly admit that they are my new addiction. I only have four now, but look at the newest addition to my collection… Jack Burton from Big Trouble In Little China!
Stay tuned for more tomorrow! And if you’re at the con and see us make sure you say hi!
