When CPS protector Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) arrives in the year 2012, catapulted there by a group of escaping terrorists from the group Liber8, she finds herself conversing with a young techno-wizard named Alec.
Played by Erik Knudsen, Alec will become a valuable ally to the displaced Kiera, aiding her on her quest to track down the escaped terrorists, and possibly even helping her find a way home.
Knudesn is a familiar face in genre film and television having turned in performances for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, Saw II, and the TV series Jericho, as well as one of my personal faves Bon Cop, Bad Cop.
Alec lives with his family in Vancouver, more on them when it comes to review time, and gets swept up in to the course of events when Kiera simply and surprisingly appears in his life.
Though the two of them have just met, Alec may be in a position to not only help Kiera but have a long-lasting effect on her life.
There may be more going on with Alec than we are first made aware of, but I think that is just going to make watching his character develop through the course of the series that much more captivating.
Currently Alec is shy, lacking in confidence, and keeps to himself, but with the sudden appearance of Kiera and all the troubles she’s bringing along with her into his life, it will be interesting to see how he changes, and how these people from the future will affect his own.
